Introducing our Rholend Tailored Denim. Made with love in Portugal from a 14.5oz natural indigo dyed selvedge denim woven in Italy, our denim trouser is a classic straight leg jean with tailored details.
What is Selvedge Denim?
Selvedge denim carries with it a lineage of tradition and craftsmanship. Woven on shuttle looms that largely disappeared by the mid-20th century, it represents a slower, more deliberate approach to fabric making. Unlike modern full-width looms, shuttle looms weave under lower tension, producing a distinctive “self-edge” or selvedge along the fabric’s borders. This relaxed tension creates the subtle salt-and-pepper texture that defined vintage denim and continues to be celebrated by denim purists today.
Fabric and Details
Our denim is dyed with natural indigo and presented in its raw, unwashed state. This choice not only reduces environmental impact, but also allows each pair to evolve with the wearer. Over time, creases and fades emerge uniquely, telling a personal story and building a patina that cannot be replicated.
Cut from a substantial yet fluid 14.5oz fabric, the denim carries weight without rigidity. Its drape recalls the refinement of a well-tailored trouser, softening beautifully with age. Every detail is considered: a trouser-finished seat, a YKK Excella zipper fly, and our signature turn-up designed for an adjustable length. Traditional chain-stitched hems, a love-knot embroidery on the coin pocket, and a natural vegetable-tanned leather patch complete the garment, underscoring our commitment to heritage techniques and enduring quality.
