In Conversation With Emily Bonita

June 6, 2025

Emily is a content creator and stylist based in New York with an incredible eye for visual storytelling. Her work often features objects, spaces, and fashion with a throughline of enduring elegance. We met with Emily near Palais Royal in Paris this Spring to learn more about where she draws her inspiration and finding beauty in simplicity, forms, and texture.

Can you tell us about the last book or movie that left a lasting impression on you?

The Great Beauty by Paolo Sorrentino has stayed with me. It’s visually stunning, emotional, and reflective, and it made me think deeply about time, beauty, and how we move through life.

What is one item in your wardrobe you cherish most, and what makes it special?

A vintage purse from the 1920s or ’30s that I found with my mom on Portobello Road in Notting Hill. It’s structured like a small box, with just enough room for the essentials. I’ve kept it ever since. More than anything, it holds the memory of that day with her.

Where do you like to go to escape?

Anywhere up north, with lakes and trees. Being surrounded by nature—no screens, no pressure—gives me space to reset and feel grounded again.

Where do you draw inspiration from, and how does it show up in your creative outlets?

I’m most inspired by film, interiors, books, and honest conversations with friends. Each offers a different perspective, whether visual, emotional, or intuitive. This perspective often shapes how I approach styling or developing an idea. It’s less about referencing something directly and more about letting those influences guide the mood or direction.

What makes a wardrobe item or accessory timeless to you?

Good construction and fabrics, clean lines, and the feeling that it fits at any stage of life. If something slips on easily and still makes you feel put-together, it usually stands the test of time.

What is a personal style philosophy you follow that you feel will stay with you forever?

Wear what makes you feel like yourself. For me, that means keeping things non-fussy and intuitive. I’m drawn to timeless silhouettes and textures I can return to again and again.
